great lesson

Just a short note...it's been a long day...and my mind is spent.

The wishing to make Dad open is something I share...probably all of us do to one extent or another.
The problem is that he isn't capable of opening, or softening. I think he will take his barricaded heart to the grave with him. He couldn't give his stuff and he certainly can't give his love and acceptance. His wounds are deep and probably impenetrable. He will carry that task into his next life. Perhaps he will find peace with it then.
Perhaps I shouldn't make that statement until he has passed though...there is always the possibility of a miracle.

Our task is to learn from his inability...to use his example to change our hearts and let others in...to learn to love and trust. Then his struggle will not be for naught...he will have taught us a great lesson.
